2008 APEC SME Workshop for Technology Transfer
Seoul, Korea

The APEC SME Innovation Centre (INSME Member), in partnership with the INSME Association, is organising an International Training Programme on “Innovation and Technology Transfer Services for SMEs: The Role of Intermediary Organisations" to be held at the 203B ASEM Hall Meeting Room, COEX, World Trade Center, Samseong-dong, in Seoul.
The training is addressed to intermediaries and their innovative SMEs. It is open to APEC economies, INSME Members and Koreans. Participation is for free. The working language will be English with interpretation into Korean.

UNCTAD: Small Businesses as a Way out of Poverty

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD, INSME Member)
has published a Brochure called “Small Business as a Way out of Poverty” underlining all the activities of the UNCTAD in the field of entrepreneurship and enterprise development including a feature for the UNCTAD EMPRETEC programme
Women in Business Award”, the first Annual Entrepreneurial Excellence Award.

3rd AER Innovation Award for Innovative regions

The Assembly of European Regions (AER) has launched its 3rd Innovation Award for Innovative Regions. This award aims to give recognition to the best practices of the European Regional authorities and their institutions which have stimulated, fostered and implemented innovation in their territory.

Participation in the Innovation Award is free of charge.

The projects will be evaluated along specific criteria by an international jury and the winning regions will be awarded on 14 November 2008.

Deadline for applications is 1 June 2008.

Etranet project: 3rd Joint Call for proposal open

ETRANET is a European network of national funding agencies, supported by the European Commission’s ERA-NET Scheme. Etranet has recently launched its 3rd Joint Call for Proposal with a technology focus related to Networked Digital Manufacturing. Its main aim is to improve international competitiveness, sustainability and socio-environmental impact of manufacturing industries in Europe through the strategic application of ICT. 

The European countries involved are: Austria; Cyprus; Finland; France; Switzerland; Turkey.

Deadline for the submission of etranet Project Plan is 30 May 2008.

The INSME Association

The International Network for Small and Medium sized Enterprises (INSME) is a non for profit Association that promotes transnational cooperation and public-private partnership for  innovation in SMEs, involving  main stakeholders dealing with competitiveness issues: governmental bodies, international organisations, business support intermediaries and their associations/networks at subnational, national, regional and international level. The Network  comprises at present  77 members in 26 countries in 5 continents.
